Veronica Keding is a duo consisting of Veronica Keding on vocals and lyrics and her husband John Keding who writes the music. Together they have released four singles and one album in the last 2½ years beginning with the single “Don’t ever follow me” in the fall of 2014.“We were recording our album and I insisted that John gave this song another go thinking it could make the album but as the sound and the subject matter just leaned itself towards English we recorded and released this as such despite at the same time working on our debut album in Swedish. As we are independent we don’t really have to follow convention so we basically do what we feel is right here and now” says Veronica.
The album “Du är inte ensam” released in the spring of 2015 consists of nine songs covering themes like love, agony, despair and bliss. A varied electronic landscape with Veronicas voice and lyrics as the composite binding the whole album together. But they were not finished there as they released a brand new single in the fall of 2015, “Roboten”, about the monotony of modern society. They had this little gem of a song that they didn’t want to just get drowned out in the other songs on the album so they decided to release it on its own.
The productive duo continued to release new music also in 2016 when they released the cover ”Kräm (så nära får ingen gå)”, an homage to one of the best Swedish rock bands ever, Kent. “We have never made a cover before, probably will not do it again so we said we should do our favorite song from our favorite Swedish band. It’s an interesting dynamic having this song sung by a woman instead as well as we applied our perhaps a bit heavier sound to the mix. We are very proud of the result and I hope all that are into Kent’s music will agree” says John.
And on the last day of January 2017 the new single was released ”Violett” about Veronicas upbringing in the Northern part of Sweden. ”The light, the woods, the tranquility, being 19 years old and unstopable.” Veronica explains. We feel ”Violett” adds another dimension to our music and this is our finest work so far. We have also taken a lot more control of everything from production, artwork etc. which is a lot of work but very rewarding in the end.
And now what? ”A lot of work goes into releasing a single so now we charge the batteries but knowing us we will soon start working on the next single, EP, album or whatever it might be. Filmmusic? With us you never know”says Veronica.
